JFC Lisbon to Test Future Deployability Concept in Norway
OEIRAS, Portugal, 26 April 2012 (MY). Allied Joint Force Command Lisbon (JFC Lisbon) will conduct Exercise STEADFAST JOIST 2012 (SFJT12), which will be the test-bed for some of the key elements of NATO's new deployability concept, from 02-15 May 2012 in Stavanger/Norway.
Exercise SFJT12, different from the former Steadfast Series exercises, will not aim at certification for the NATO Response Forces (NRF). The main aim of SFJT12, in addition to enhancing the expertise of the personnel, will be testing some key elements of the new Deployability Concept being developed by JFCs Lisbon, Naples and Brunssum under the leadership of Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).
Until 15 May 2012, the Headquarters will make use of brand new high-tech training facilities provided by the Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway. During the execution of the exercise, various incidents and events in an imaginary and complex scenario environment will be played.
Distinguished Visitors' Day of the SFJT12 will be on 15 May 2012 with high level attendance from NATO Headquarters, Organizations and Ministries of Defence of Partner Nations.
JFC Lisbon will test the elements, decision-making and executing procedures in the conduct of operations using the new deployability concept during the SFJT12 exercise with personnel support from SHAPE, JFCs Brunssum and Naples, Force Command Heidelberg and the participation of Allied Air Component Command Izmir, 1st German-Netherlands Corps Munster, Allied Maritime Command Northwood, NATO Special Operations Headquarters Mons, Multinational CIMIC Group Italy and NATO Multinational CBRN Defence Battalion Czech Republic.
Within the framework of NATO's New Strategic Concept adopted at the Lisbon Summit in November 2010, JFC Lisbon hereby provides a significant contribution to the future NATO Command Structure and for future missions.
